August 6
Every day there’s something:
Shootings. Bombings. Stabbings.
The news is consistently heavy and tragic. I spent many years working in TV covering this stuff, but the volume of the violence is continually amped up and I feel more affected than ever. Maybe you feel it, too.
That’s one of the reasons this daily gratitude offering has taken hold of me and makes me want everyone to feel the positive effects of it, too. God knows we need more positive in the world, whether it is exhibited in our homes or extended around the world. And the research shows daily gratitude improves our relationships.
So, this is your reminder to find gratitude today. Actually, writing this is my reminder, too. I’ll continue with these for just a little while longer, until we hit day twenty-one and have made it a habit. I’m curious about what changes we all might notice in our lives at that point.
Until then, it’s The Big Joy of Little Things Day 10 and these are some of the blessings I’m counting:
39. Dinner out with dear friends who love Hubs and me just as we are and who always make us laugh the night away. Thank you, Mary Lloyd and Kurt, for a friendship that is so much fun!
40. These two in the photo above who are always happy to see me and always make me smile. Except if they pee inside.
41. Interviewing two wonderful women who are in their sixties and are making a difference in the world. Their example inspires me and I can’t wait to write their story. This is the best job in the world!
42. Dressy shoes that are cute and comfortable. My feet thank you!
What’s on your gratitude list? Look for the good things as you go through the day. And sign up below for reminders and more about the benefits of living gratefully.
Wishing you peace, love and gratitude, Underdogs!
